Thy Veils’ Dreamy Electro World Live Concert

thy-veils

Artist: Thy Veils
Album: Live in Elisabetin

Recorded live on September 28, 2014 at the Elisabetin Roman-Catholic Church in Piata Balcescu, Timisoara, Romania, this is an hour-long performance of lush and relaxing ambient / electronic / world music. It reminds me very pleasantly of Dead Can Dance what with their heavily reverb’d instrumentation, the ethnic percussion, the soaring female vocals, and the acoustic guitar embellishments. Haunting. Dreamy. Rich.

It’s not a dance album though you could dance to it in your dreams. It’s not totally electronic, though the majority of the sequences are controlled from a laptop. It’s not totally world music though it has much in it that you could hear in chillout world music compilations.

But it is heavenly. So performing in an old church seems like the perfect choice of venue as the music lifts your thoughts to paradise even as it celebrates and honors the rich heritage of world music that we all share in our folk traditions. Sit back and enjoy the full hour-long concert on Youtube. Then help support the band by buying the album on Bandcamp: http://thyveils.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-elisabetin

Thy Veils is made up of:
Daniel Dorobantu – electronics, producer, visual design

If you’re looking for something to listen to. This is worth your time. It’s not as dark as my usual recommendations, but it is 50 shades of awesome. Forget grey. Grey is boring. Thy Veils is a much better experience overall.
